Governor Ambode sets up 5 man committee to examine Urban and Regional Planning Law

The recent Lekki building collapse has raised a lot of questions that will be answered by Governor Ambode's five man committee.

On Tuesday, March 8th, 2016, a five-storey building, undergoing construction, collapsed.

This resulted in the loss of over 30 lives, the arrest of two executives and the dismissal of members of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA).

Governor Ambode urged the committee to examine the operations of LASBCA, and make necessary recommendations in their report, which should be ready in four weeks.

Members of the committee include the chairman, TPL (Dr) Moses Olubunmi Ajayi, a past President of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners and Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria, Engineer Ore Fadayomi, President of the Nigerian Institute of Structural Engineers, Architect (Mrs) Yetunde O. Ajayi, a retired Permanent Secretary, General Manager of Lagos State Planning Authority(LASSPA) and Secretary of Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) as Secretary of the Committee.
