What you should know about new party faction

There's a new splinter PDP party in town. Take our word for it and don't pay them any heed.

Fresh PDP was unveiledon December 20, 2017 at a poorly attended press conference.

The new PDP faction is led by a certain Emmanuel Nwosu who says he stands against the imposition of a unity list on members at the just concluded PDP convention.

Should you take this PDP faction seriously?

Not really. You can pay them as much attention as you would a fly perched on a wall.

Fresh PDP is unregistered at the time of writing and you could regard these guys as a bunch of very aggrieved gentlemen.

Nothing more.

What gave birth to Fresh PDP?

You see, after the PDP elective convention of December 9, 2017, a lot of persons—especially from Nigeria's Southwest region—got really aggrieved.

There was a unity list that made the rounds on convention day, stipulating select candidates for the different positions, well before the first vote was cast in anger.

Everyone on that unity list became a PDP executive by Sunday, December 10.

Fresh PDP is a fallout of a convention which proved that imposition of candidates and rigging haven't left the PDP.

This splinter party just wants to make enough noise to bring them to the table for appeasement and further negotiations on power sharing.

It’s politics, stupid.

Should PDP chieftains lose sleep over Fresh PDP?

Not at all.

Fresh PDP would disappear as fast as it has emerged.

Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has described members of Fresh PDP as a bunch of “jobless miscreants..charlatans.”

New PDP Chairman, Uche Secondus, says Fresh PDP is the handiwork of enemies or the governing APC.

“We are focused, we know the enemy is at work, we know several things have been going on. People predicted that our convention will not be successful and at the end of the day it was successful – so, they are not happy,” Secondus said.

The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Kola Ologbondinyan, says: “The PDP is completely unperturbed by the comical act of some individuals who make outlandish claims in the media regarding our party.

“The fact is that we are happy with the efforts of the Governor Seriake Dickson-led Reconciliation Committee, as well as the responses from all the respectable and responsible leaders of our party in that regard.

“We will, however, not be responsible or respond to any person or groups of individuals who decide to allow themselves to be used by forces from another political party in a laughable and childish attempt to distract us”.
