25 killed in another attack by suspected herdsmen

19 of the victims were men, with others being three women and three children.

The attack led to the burning down of 11 houses as the evening attack which happened around 7pm, led to the death of 19 men, three women and three children.

The spokesperson of Plateau State Police Command, ASPMatthias Tyopev, confirmed the attack confirmed to The Punch on Tuesday, March 13.

He said, "There was an attack yesterday (Monday) in Bassa; as such, the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, has directed the DCP Taiwo Jebiyisu, a Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Department of Operations, to go to the scene of crime for an on-the-spot assessment.

"As such, he is there now. The information is sketchy. I shall inform you when the details of the attack are made available, please."

The spokesperson of Miango Youth Development Association, Lawrence Zongo, also confirmed the attack and noted that injured victims are currently receiving treatment in a nearby hospital in the community.

"Very sad! Again, Fulani terrorists killed 25 persons in Dundu Village of Kwall District in Bassa LGA of Plateau State," he said.

Previous herdsmen attack in Plateau

Monday's attack follows another recent attack that has left more than a dozen people dead in Plateau.

Ganda village of Daffo District in Bokkos LGA and Miango village in BassaLGAwere reportedly attacked by herdsmen in the early hours of Friday, March 9, leaving at least 11 people dead.

The communities were said to have been invaded by the killer herdsmen a few hours after the inauguration of Plateau State Peace Building Agency by President Muhammadu Buhari who had paid a visit to the state.
