A policeman who was declared missing after an attack by herdsmen in Benue State on Saturday, February 10, 2018, has been discovered slaughtered to death.

In a statement signed by the command's spokesperson, Moses Yamu, on Monday, February 12, the unnamed officer was missing vital organs, including his eyes and nose, when he was found.

He said, "The command regret to announce the death of one of its NCO, who was one of the two (2) remaining missing policemen in the attack of 9/2/2018.

"He was found brutally slaughtered, with both eyes and ears as well as nose removed. We pray that God Almighty grants him eternal rest."

Suspected herdsmen had attacked the group of policemen who were on a confidence patrol in Tse Akpam village, near Azege town in Logo Local Government Area on Saturday.

The state's police commissioner, Fatai Owoseni, had initially declared that four officers were missing after the attack, but two of them returned to the command on Sunday, February 11.
