According to a video circulating on social media, the soldiers invaded Kanu's home at Ibeku, Umuahia, in armoured tanks and patrol vans.
They allegedly opened fire on IPOB members guarding the house.
One of the Biafra agitators, who is believed to have recorded the video said some of his comrades were killed while many were wounded.
But the video only captured one IPOB member being rushed to the hospital - he was allegedly shot by the soldiers.
This is coming barely 24 hours after the Nigerian army said it would begin its second phase of Operation Python Dance II in the South Eastern states.
