5 fake foods you are eating

There's nothing as good as knowing the health condition of whatever goes into your mouth straight to your belly.

Fake food you eat

From manufactured ingredients to artificial or diluted items and cheap stuff, discover some of these fake foods.

1. Dry spices

Some of the dry spices we use such as dry pepper, turmeric and all have often been found to contain some other substances. Dry pepper, often mixed with nutmegs(which is cheaper) to increase the quantity and turmeric with corn.

Always buy your pepper and grind it yourself. That way, you'll be sure you're taking the right stuff.

2. Coffee

Chances that you buy a pure, undiluted coffee is very slim as most of the coffees sold contain additives, such as wheat, barley, and even twigs because it's cheaper and harder to tell the difference in the bag.

"Contemporary researchers have found twigs, roasted corn, ground roasted barley, and even roasted ground parchment," he writes. "Adulteration is more extreme in powdered instant coffee, where substances found have included chicory, cereals, caramel, parchment, starch, malt, and figs."

It is, therefore, safer and advisable to buy your beans whole and grind it yourself.

What people need to understand about olive oil is that it's essentially closer to fresh-squeezed fruit juice than it is to most of the other oils we're familiar with. Therefore, unlike other oils.  has a fairly short shelf life compared.

The next time you want to purchase olive oil, check the production and expiry date and make sure it's within 6 months of the production date, that way you know you're taking in healthy oil.

In an attempt to do away with sugar, some people opt for honey. Unfortunately, some of the products we buy are diluted with cheap sweeteners, like high-fructose corn syrup.

So, make sure you read all the ingeredients on the bottle of the honey before purchasing.

5. Rice

Rice is practically everyday meal in this part of the world and it's so unfortunate that it's in the list of fake foods we consume.

The ‘plastic rice’ is reportedly made by forming potatoes and sweet potatoes into regular rice grains shape, then adding industrial synthetic resins. It remains hard after cooking and can cause serious health issues.
