The collection features Kinabuti's signature African Prints in cool chic; with matching sets, pencil skirts, tops, jackets and more. Kinabuti fuses a combination of Vlisco high quality African Prints and the prestigious, elegant and refined Loro Piana fabrics, alongside Mongolian cashmere fabric to create this exquisite statement collection. Also featured in this chic collection are pieces using intricate lace, crochet, and leather fabrics with comprehensive layering, cut outs, patchwork and asymmetrical details.
The 37 piece lookbook features 18 male and 19 female designs shot in an unusual style/background (Orile, Apapa and Makoko) where the Kinabuti fashion initiative presently run some of its empowerment projects.
The shoot had contestants from the recent concluded inspirational projection Dare2Dream project, the platform in which aspiring models from all over the country were given the opportunity to achieve their dreams, serve as models and the behind the scenes filmed by the students from its creative incubator project.
The designer Caterina Bortolussi revealed her inspiration came from the biography of the great Genghis Khan and his rise to power. Whilst taking us through the Mongolia of the 11th century, evoking visual thoughts of the valleys of the country, describing the values of good leadership, clan belonging, humility and faith.
