7 Great Tips For Wearing Your Foundation Right.

Choosing the right foundation is the first step to a great made up look. When picking up foundation we should consider these tips for a perfectly desired look.

Foundation should be an important part of our make-up; it is especially necessary when there are little skin blemishes to cover. Foundation gives off this radiance and ensures a smooth make-up application; it should not be skipped.

Wearing the right foundation does a lot to enhance the whole look so it should never be underestimated. It ensures there's a smooth canvas that the make-up glides on.

There are a few tips to consider when picking out our foundation:

1)   Do Not Wear Too Much Foundation

Foundation should be applied to the barest minimum. Some people layer on the foundation hoping it will make blemishes disappear where the key is to appropriately care for the skin. The beauty of foundation is when it is applied on a ‘smooth’ surface. Foundation should only be used to even out skin tone, not to cover up imperfections/blemishes. The result of wearing a foundation should be to achieve a natural look. By all means less is more!

2)   Blend, Blend and Blend

Make sure to always blend your foundation into your hair line and neck area, this gives a much more natural look.

3)   Choose The Right Shade

Before buying any type of foundation, test the shade to make sure it matches your skin colour. Test by applying a swatch to the skin on your neck and jawline, if it disappears into your skin then you have the right shade but if it is visible then by all means not!  Foundations should blend flawlessly into the skin while at the same time offering coverage.

4)  Choose The Right Type

There are foundations for different skin types,  it is very important to choose the right type of foundation for your skin type, for instance, if you have oily skin, water based liquid foundations or those  for oily skins should be used as a cream to powder for instance will not be suitable and cause you to break out.

If you have dry skin, avoid foundations that could dry out the skin instead, opt for those that will moisturize your skin.

5)   Pick The Right Undertone

For women of colour, the rule of thumb is to select foundation with yellow undertones. It works for dark skin tones.

6)   Moisturize

Always apply moisturizer before using your foundation, this helps nourish your skin and prevent s the foundation from amplifying the dry parts of your face.

7)   Use A Primer

A primer should also be used prior to foundation; it ensures it’s smooth on, keeping you looking fresh all day.
