Man in court for threatening to kill former boss
A man who threatened to assassinate his former employer has been arraigned in court.
The accused who is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, demanding for money with threat to life and attempted assassination, had allegedly threatened to murder his former employer, Ekenedilichukwu Udoji, after he was sacked.
The police prosecutor, ASP Ignatius Okeke, told the court that the accused and one accomplice who is now at large, had committed the offences on January 21, 2016, at Surulere area of the state.
Okeke said:
“The accused wrote a letter to his former employer and dropped it with the security guard at the gate.
He identified himself as shadow assassin and he claimed that he had been paid to waste Udoji’s life. Obasi demanded for the sum of N500, 000 for him not to carry out the assassination.”
The prosecutor added that during investigation, the police traced the accused to his residence at No. 9 Sholanke Street, by Mechanic Bus Stop, Itire, where he was apprehended.
But when the charges were read to him, Obasi pleaded not guilty and Adefulire granted him bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till April 4, 2016, for further hearing.
