Carrying the kind of poise and confidence that comes with two decades of practice, the 37-year old reality TV star was the showstopper – literally and figuratively.

Despite being pregnant, Gracias made it to the pages of several newspapers and media outfits and even trended on social media.

Carol told the Hindustan Times: ‘I have been doing his shows for many years now, so this time as usual he called and asked if he could book me. I told him I was pregnant and he still asked if I would walk for the show.

‘So, I gave it a thought, and realised that the clothes to be showcased are meant for all kinds of women.

‘I thought if the designer would like me in his show, then why not? I really enjoyed the experience.’

Websites described the Indian supermodel, and former winner of the must coveted India’s L’Oreal/Elite look of the Year title appearance as “breaking convention” and “busting stereotypes”.

People on social media crowned her the “yaaass queen” and the Internet loudly celebrated and intellectualised Gracias’s decision to walk a ramp while pregnant.

Designer Gaurang Shah says pregnant Carol walking the ramp was an inspiration.

Karl Lagerfeld and Dolce & Gabbana have recently featured pregnant models in their shows, but this is the first time an Indian fashion show has used a visibly pregnant model.

It is refreshing to see that the idea of pregnancy and modeling is fast being accepted into the fashion-fold and that the “ideal” female form is finally having a reality check.
