A septuagenarian has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping a 3-year-old girl and using her to beg for alms.
A 70-year-old grand mother has been arrested in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, for allegedly abducting a 3-year-old girl and using her to beg for arms.
The woman who was nabbed by the state Police Command, was alleged to have kidnapped the girl on March 25, 2015 at the Old Shao Garage, Ilorin, home of her parents.
A relative of the girl's mother, Maryam Abdulganiyu, said that the girl was found in a worship place, popularly called Ori-Oke at Basin area of Ilorin, being used by the suspect for begging and when confronted, she claimed that she used the proceeds from the alms begging to feed and clothe the girl.
The girl's grandfather, Mallam Isa, had reportedly gone to the Mosque to worship when he saw the septuagenarian with the missing girl and alerted the cleric in charge of the centre that he had seen his missing grandchild with an unknown person.
They accosted the woman, who claimed the child was her grandchild and following an argument, the police was invited.
