29-yr-old woman remanded in prison for murdering her brother-in-law
A married woman who stabbed her brother-in-law to death during a disagreement has been remanded in prison custody.
The accused, a trader and a mother of three, is facing a count charge of murder preferred against her by Lagos State, after she reportedly stabbed the victim to death at the Olodi Apapa, Ajegunle area of the state on Januray 28, 2014.
The fight that led to the killing of Ikechukwu, according to the State prosecutor, Rotimi Oduntola, happened when he asked Obiageri, his brother's wife, why she put on a generator in her shop and locked it up throughout the night, which led to a fire that almost burnt down the house.
Not comfortable with the question, she allegedly got into an argument with the deceased and in the cause of the quarrel, she picked up a knife and stabbed the deceased on his chest and arm, which led to his death.
When the charge was read to her, the weeping Obiageri pleaded not guilty and the judge, Justice Raliat Adeniyi, refused to grant her bail and subsequently, ordered that she be remanded in prison custody till the next adjourned dates of January 27 and February 1, 2016, pending the conclusion of the trial.
