A Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has sentenced a Pakistani national, Iftikhar Arslan, to 18 months imprisonment for importing 25.400kg of heroin valued at N220 million into Nigeria.

A Pakistani national who imported drugs into Nigeria has been jailed.
The sentenced was handed down to the convict by Justice C. J. Aneke after the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), arraigned him on a one-count charge of unlawful importation of heroin contrary to and punishable under Section 11(a) of the NDLEA Act, Cap 30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
Arslan who reportedly told NDLEA investigators he was a student of Punjab College, also added that he was in Nigeria as a tourist because his friend told him that Victoria Island and Ikoyi were beautiful tourist centres.
