OPC leader arrested for robbery, kidnapping
A top official of the Oodua Peoples Congress has been arrested for sundry crimes like armed robbery and Kidnapping.
The 45 -year-old Alao, a governor of the Dr Frederick Fasehun led faction of the OPC, was said to have led some of his gang members to kidnap his predecessor, Tayo Alao, and demanded a ransom from his family, when he and 30 other members of the gang were paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Isaac Eke.
But Alao vehemently refused engaging in any crime, insisting that he and other OPC members had gone to his former boss to demand for the money collected from members for enrolment for pipeline protection contract and for the identity cards of members of the organisation but the said Tayo called in the police who arrested him and other members on the allegation of kidnapping and robbery.
But the CP insisted that Alao and others were arrested for robbery and the crimes leveled against them.
