Man arrested for stealing baby from day care

A 29-year-old man, Damian Okhuli, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command, for allegedly stealing a baby girl from a day care centre in the Alakuko area of the state, Punch reports.

It was learnt that Okhuli who lives at Shogunle, Oshodi, had gone to the area and hung around the day care and when the coast was clear, he sneaked into the premises and stole the one-year-old girl.

It was when the one-year-old girl was discovered missing that the management raised the alarm and rushed to the Alakuko Police Division to report the incident.

After intensive investigation, Okhuli was arrested while the child was rescued and reunited with her parents while the the suspect has been transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation (SDCI), Yaba, for further investigation, from where he would be charged to court.

A police source within the area narrated the incident:

“The suspect had come to the school at about 12pm on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, to steal the baby girl.

When the management noticed that she was missing, they came to report to the police, and we began the search. The suspect was arrested on the same day and the baby girl was rescued. She has been reunited with her parents.”
