The accused are facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, burglary, stealing and receiving stolen goods.
The accused are Ikenna Nba, 35; Sanni Musa, 28; Musa Iliasu, 26; and Omoloye Abayomi, 41– all residents of Satelite Town area of Lagos State.
They are facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, burglary, stealing and receiving stolen goods.
The prosecutor, Insp. Tony Elibeh, told the court that the accused, who pleaded not-guilty, committed the offences on May 19 at Black Gate, Satellite Town.
Elibeh said the accused broke into Nwajar’s warehouse and stole bags of battery components valued at N5.8 million.
He alleged that Abayomi who knew the goods were stolen, received them from his fellow accomplices.
“Abayomi was caught by some security guards at the Estate’s gate while he was trying to escape with some of the stolen goods.
“When the security guards asked him how he got the battery components; he could not give a satisfactory account, hence, he was apprehended and taken to a police station.
“After the police had pressured him, Abayomi gave the location of his fellow accomplices,’’ Elibeh said.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 285, 309, 327 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 309 stipulates a seven-year jail term for offenders.
Chief Magistrate Titus Abolarinwa granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.
Abolarinwa adjourned the case until June 30 for mention.
