JAMB may deal with institutions for exploiting admission seekers

Following the Federal Government policy that Universities and Polytechnics across the country should not charge more than N2000 for post UTME exercise, some institutions have refused to comply with the policy.

The Board on Friday, October 6, on its Twitter handle called on the candidates to indicate if they paid more than N2000 for Post UTME screening exercise.

Immediately the exam body made the announcement, a lot of candidates have been calling out the institutions that charged from N5000 to N10,000 for the exercise.

The Federal Ministry of Education had initially stopped universities and polytechnics from conducting Post Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Exams alleging that the schools use it to extort parents whose children are seeking admission into their institutions.

The Ministry, however, withdrew the order and asked the schools to conduct the exams with JAMB playing a supervisory role.

So, in a bid to control admission procedure in the institutions, the board controversially pegged post UTME score at 120 and POST UTME exam fee at N2000.

However,  UNILAG, UNILORIN, Nassara State University and Uyo State University are among the institutions the candidates mentioned on the tread to have complied with the policy.
