How to know when you are weak & open to temptations
If we are being honest, Christianity has great and not so strong times. Once we realise this, we can recognise when we need refills.
There is usually a time when you are in the first class category, you are reading the Bible on a daily basis, communication with God is fantastic and life is great.
Unfortunately, there are also times when God seems far away like you are trying but you keep struggling with your faith.
It is a really good thing when you can tell when you are not as spiritually strong as you would like because it means you can do something about it.
But, it doesn't always work that way. Sometimes, we need something/someone to help us realise that we have fallen. Consider this as that something.
Here is how to know when your spiritual life could be faulty.
When you get over confident:
Every Christian has to realise that we are absolutely dependent on Christ and His grace. Nothing we do is by our strength. The second you start to get boastful or too confident, you are in trouble ( see Ephesians 2:8-9).
When you can’t forgive or get easily offended:
Unforgiveness or being quick to anger is a sure sign that you are not spiritually strong as we should all be (Ephesians 4:26-27).
As Christians, who emulating our Father, we have no choice to forgive because we have been forgiven. So, there is simply no place for anger or unforgiveness in a Christian’s life (Matthew 18:21–35).
When you are not spending enough time with His Word, in His Presence:
We are what we consume. If you ever get to a point when you are not praying, reading the Bible, fellowshipping with other believers or simply making enough time for our Father, you could be courting trouble. It is extremely important that we so much time in His presence on a daily basis so that we have ammunition for whatever life throws at us.
Peter, one of Jesus’ beloved disciples betrayed his master. Before that betrayal, he boasted that he would never let Him down(Mark 14:27).
As we all know, he ended up denying Him three times! What this shows us is that we are all capable of failing.
Anyone, even the ‘strongest’ Christian of all of us is capable of falling. Thankfully, this doesn't mean we have to stay in that place for the rest of our lives.
By God’s grace, we can always repent from our old ways and run into the open arms of our Father.
In the words of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 10:12, “If you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall.”
