SC Braga's women's volleyball team has secured the signing of Angolan international Zinilda Matuca. The 24-year-old opposite hitter returns to Portugal after a stint with Voléro Le Cannet in France, joining the 'Arsenalistas'.
Matuca expressed her motivation for the new project, viewing it as an opportunity for continued individual and collective growth. The athlete confessed to feeling “very happy” to join the club, describing the invitation as “a tremendous honor.”
“I already had the goal of returning to Portugal, and receiving the invitation from SC Braga was a tremendous honor. It’s a big club, and I’m very happy to be part of this project,” the player stated.
Reflecting on her time in France, Matuca admitted it was “challenging,” as it took her out of her “comfort zone,” but despite “some ups and downs, everything ultimately went well.” Now, her focus is entirely on the Braga club. “I believe it will be an excellent experience,” she added.
Regarding her objectives, the Angolan international aims to “show her worth, continue to develop, and learn from more experienced teammates.” Collectively, the goal is ambitious: “The objective is to reach the finals and fight for the best results. I’ve been following this project for the past two years, and I believe the path has been very positive.”
The Angolan joins Katarina Rodic, Azul Benitez, Eduarda Campos, Gabi Coelho, and Aline Timm in the squad led by coach João Santos, who renewed his contract until 2029 in February.
