With a 3-0 disadvantage from the first leg in South Africa, Zamalek could only manage to score on goal in the Alexandria on Sunday, October 23.
The 1-0 loss put the aggregate score at 3-1 in favour of Mamelodi Sundowns to lift the trophy the 2016 CAF Champions League trophy.
After the game, Zamalek chairman is bemused at the number of missed chances his team had to equalise the deficit from the first leg.
“Is it natural to waste 18 chances in front of goal? Things were obviously not normal and there were magic and sorcery involved,” the chairman reportedly said.
Nigerian striker Stanly Ohawuchi scored Zamalek’s only goal of the night and Mansour is happy with the performance of the whole team.
“All of the players and their coach were men today and we missed God’s reconcile. I thanked them after the game for their manly performance,” added.
Mamelodi Sundowns will now represent Africa in the Club World Cup in Japan.
