Switzerland's head coach, Murat Yakin, expressed immense satisfaction after securing first place in Group B of the World Cup, though he admitted the 2-1 victory over hosts Canada was hard-fought. He praised the opposition, who battled until the very end to salvage at least a point.
"I am extremely impressed by the relentless effort Canada put forth on the field in this match. They are a truly brilliant team – their players are incredibly fast, aggressive, and dangerous on every counter-attack. We had to make some crucial tactical adjustments at halftime in the locker room, which ultimately allowed us to score that quick goal right after the restart in the second half," Yakin stated.
"The atmosphere here in Vancouver was simply incredible, and it was a real test for us to play in front of that crowd. For the Swiss team, the most important thing is that we got the job done in the best possible way, secured the three points, and guaranteed ourselves first place in this tough group," the boss added.
