Eugenie Bouchard still troubled by US Open concussion
Eugenie Bouchard has been forced to withdraw from the Wuhan Open as she is still not ready to make her comeback after suffering concussion during the US Open.
The former Wimbledon finalist has not featured on the WTA Tour since slipping in the changing rooms at Flushing Meadows and suffering a bang to the head.
It forced her to withdraw from the final grand slam of the year and from last week's Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo as the symptoms continued to trouble her.
Bouchard travelled to China for one of the last tournaments of the season, but has once again been forced out of contention.
"I am frustrated and disappointed that I won't be able to compete at the Wuhan Open this week," she said in a statement.
"I travelled to Wuhan with the intention of playing. Unfortunately, my concussion symptoms came back during practice on Saturday and it would not be safe for me to go on court today.
"I will rest in Wuhan for the next few days to determine how I progress, and look forward to coming back here to play in this great city next year."
Bouchard " who was due to meet Belinda Bencic in the first round " was replaced by lucky loser Alja Tomljanovic in the draw, with the Swiss progressing in straight sets on Monday.
