1. A first four-game win for Uruguay

The 2-1 win for Uruguay against Portugal is their fourth straight win of the 2018 World Cup. This is the first time they have won their opening four games of a World Cup tournament since 1930.

2. Losing streak in knockout stages

Portugal have now lost their last four World Cup matches in the knockout stages of the tournament, since a goalless draw with England in the 2006 quarter-final.

3. Uruguay concede at last

With a central defensive system of José Giménez and Diego Godin, Uruguay have the meanest defence at the World Cup.

The goal they conceded against Portugal ended their run of 597 consecutive minutes without conceding a single goal in International football.
