Various reports reveal that Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system is currently running on about 200 million devices worldwide in what the tech giant says is the fastest adoption rate of any of its operating systems.

About two months ago, CEO Satya Nadella revealed that 110 million devices were already running Windows 10.

"I would characterize this as white hot adoption out of the gate," said Daniel Ives, an analyst at FBR Capital Markets, according to a report by Nigeria CommunicationsWeek.

Most of the adoption growth comes from retail consumers with other devices like Microsoft’s Xbox gaming console aiding the adoption of Windows 10.

Windows 10 was released as a free download back in July 2015 and it powers both PCs and smaller devices like phones.

It replaces the heavily criticized Windows 8 which was released in 2012.
