"When you talk trash to me, you get a different version of me!" Luka Dončić destroys Warriors rookie: Get back out here, you p***y! /VIDEO/
The Lakers opened their season against the Warriors in Los Angeles in what initially looked like a tight contest, but ultimately turned into a commanding 127-105 blowout victory.
The game remained a back-and-forth battle until Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg started chirping at the Slovenian superstar late in the second quarter.
The Lakers held a 53-48 advantage with under three minutes remaining in the first half when Lendeborg engaged in a verbal spat with Dončić.
"You can't f***ing guard me, man," Dončić appeared to mouth after drawing a foul before clapping in response. Lendeborg was immediately subbed out right after the exchange.
Shortly after, Luka buried a mid-range jumper over a Warriors defender, pointed directly at Lendeborg on the bench, and fired another jab:
"Get back in, you p***y."
Steve Kerr appeared to try to calm tempers down, but it clearly did not work.
Dončić then capped the sequence by draining a half-court buzzer-beater to close the half, delivering an emphatic response to Lendeborg's taunts.
The Lakers quickly blew the game wide open, building a massive 34-point cushion by the end of the third quarter. With the outcome settled, the coaching staff called it a night for the Slovenian star, resting Dončić for the entire fourth quarter.
He finished the contest with 28 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and three steals, shooting 7-of-18 (38.9%) from the floor and 5-of-12 (41.7%) from three-point range.
"Everybody knows that when someone starts talking trash to me, you get a different version of me. So, that was that," Dončić explained.
