"We won't carry on as if nothing happened." Germany's Coach Decision Awaits US Return

Bernd Neuendorf, President of the German Football Federation (DFB), announced that the future of coach Julian Nagelsmann will be decided after the team's return home from the World Cup. The tournament concluded for the four-time world champions on Monday with a stunning Round of 16 exit against Paraguay (1-1, 3-4 on penalties).

Neuendorf stated that he spoke with Nagelsmann, CEO Andreas Rettig, and sporting director Rudi Völler after the match. All agreed that Germany's World Cup performance fell short of expectations.

"In the coming days, we will calmly and collectively examine the reasons why the team failed to realize its potential and did not meet its own expectations, nor those of football-loving Germany. After such a serious setback and considering the challenges ahead, we cannot and will not simply carry on as if nothing happened," the DFB statement, quoted by DPA, read.

The German delegation is set to depart the USA on Tuesday evening, with players traveling individually from one of the World Cup host nations.
