Vince is here to show the world the stuff he’s made of.
Speaking to Pulse about how his drive and love for music came about, Vince had a lot to say.
Check it out.
How did music get started for you?
Well, I can say I have been doing music professionally for over six years now.
It actually started for me as hobby, and to affect people with my song, then from that hobby it started, as I began slowly wanting to make it an actual dream. Growing up my mother would be marveled of how I would replicate songs I newly heard then as a little boy...and sing them unconsciously minutes or hours later, my mother was a lover of music and I think that's what helped shape my passion for music.
Over the years she'd play songs from Fela, Osadebe, Oliver de coque, Kenny Rogers, Elton John, Lucky Dube, Bob Marley, Abba, Celine Dion etc.
Music takes me to a place where I find peace and solace... I remember telling a friend of mine then that I wanted to start doing music, then he'd laugh at me. When I dropped my first single then, he was amazed! he didn't even believe it was me...so music for me started even longer than I can remember.
At what point did you know for certain music was it for you?
2. Over the years after trying to convince myself that that this music was more than just what I like to do and began to feel more like it was a calling, something happened that changed my thought completely... some time ago when I was still trying to be a better songwriter, then I had gotten my very first guitar, something happened one night as I was sleeping, I was literally humming as I was sleeping, I was just hearing this beautiful melody playing in my head and the hunger to make a song just woke me up at about 2am in the morning, I got up from the bed like I had woken up from a bad dream, I quickly picked up my guitar, got a chord line of the melody that was playing in my head...I wrote that song in less than an hour, and that was the shortest time I'd normally use to write a full fleshed song, the right lyrics kept coming with the perfect melodies, It was then I knew and told myself that this wasn't just a hobby no more.
And till today anywhere I play that song, I keep getting awesome comments...and that was when I began to have a feeling that if I don't empty myself of my ideas and share this talent to the world before I leave this earth, then I must have not really fulfilled my purpose in life.
How would you describe your sound?
My sound is just the definition of something that is new and stands out from the regular...and I also look forward to discovering, learning and exploring more sound....I can say my sound is something uniquely different... And to people I haven't heard before the moment I hear someone unique my spirit automatically connects with them, I would just want to know more about them, Listen to more of them and learn from them as well.
Who are your musical influences?
For influences, I have just one and that's my mother (Her soul rest in peace),
She has influenced my career in a whole lot of ways that I can't begin to talk about... The advice she'd give to me then was that I never give up on what I believe in no matter what, and I should always learn to put in hard work, stay focused, depend on no one and be a better man that my father was.
What do you hope people take away from your music?
A good friend once told me that my music reaches out to hearts, speaks to people’s heart directly....my music inspires, encourages, gives hope, brings happiness, gives joy, teaches and connects to the soul generally....my music can make you cry, can make you laugh, can make you dance, and can inspire you to be a better person and affect society.
What can we look forward to seeing from you?
I'm set out to release songs that have been in the box for too long, I think it’s finally time for the world to see....set out to release to the music scene home and abroad, Afro, soul, RnB, Hip-hop jamz that would shake the universe...inspired basically by life in general like personal experiences and most of all God....they've been so much work put in together to create these songs, and I can bet you'd be blown away... Keep an eye out for nothing but good music from Vince...
