Super Eagles stars drum support for teammate to get BBC African Player of the Year

Moses was among the five nominees named for the BBC African Footballer of the Year on Saturday, November 11.

Liverpool duo Sadio Mane (Senegal) and Mohamed Salah (Egypt),  Borussia Dortmund and Gabon forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and RB Leipzig's Guinea midfielder Naby Keita make up the rest of the shortlist.

The winner of the award is decided via voting by the general public and Super Eagles stars are canvassing for votes for their teammate.

Leon Balogun, John Ogu and a slew of Super Eagles players have taken to social media to canvass support for the Chelsea forward.

“Nigeria, it’s time to vote. This award can only go to our brother & outstanding baller @VictorMoses - no excuses! Make sure he gets what he deserves - African Footballer of the Year 2017 must be our very own,” Balogun who captained the Super Eagles against Algeria wrote on his Twitter.

Chelsea are also canvassing support for the 26-year-old and have launched a campaign on their official website.

Moses makes the final five follow his exploits for Chelsea where he won the Premier League in the year under review.

He also played an influential role for the Super Eagles as they qualified for the 2018 FIFA World from a tough group that included Zambia, Cameroon and Algeria.

The Nigerian was also included in CAF’s Best XI from the qualifying series.

The BBC will announce the award winner on Monday, December 11.
