He described himself as "bullet-proof and iron-clad" during his pre-match press conference at the FIFA World Cup.

Ronaldo broke the Internet with a recent interview with Piers Morgan on Talk TV where he criticised his employers and coach.

The 37-year-old appears to have burnt bridges with the club following the clear-the-air interview which broke the Internet just before the World Cup.

However, following criticisms that have trailed his decision to go public while still contracted to the club, the Portuguese star has reacted for the first time.

Ronaldo has since joined his international teammates for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, his fifth appearance at the global showpiece.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Portugal's opening game against Ghana, Ronaldo threatened to be "upset" with the media, who once again brought up the topic, having asked some of his compatriots including Bruno Fernandes.

"The atmosphere is excellent, no problems, we are completely focused," Ronaldo told the media via Sports NDTV.

"You can help by not talking about me. “Stop asking my teammates about me. Ask them about the World Cup. I don't care what other people think. I speak when I want to. I am bulletproof. I wear an iron suit."

"If you ask other players about Cristiano Ronaldo I would be upset. If you want to ask him about the World Cup and the team, I would like you to do that."

Ronaldo ready for Ghana

On the World Cup in Qatar, the former Real Madrid and Juventus forward confirmed that he is fit and ready to take on the world.

"I feel great I have recovered from my injury," he added. "I am ready to start the World Cup in the best possible way and help my team to reach our objectives. I feel fantastic."
