An agreement between Sporting and Nottingham Forest for Ousmane Diomande is reportedly close to being finalized, A BOLA has learned. This comes despite the well-known difficulties in negotiating with Forest's eccentric Greek billionaire owner, Evangelos Marinakis, who is often a challenging figure in transfer dealings.

However, progress has been made, and a deal could be struck in the coming hours. Sporting is set to receive no less than €40 million upfront, with add-ons potentially increasing the total value to €45 million. The Portuguese club is also expected to retain a percentage of any future resale profit, likely around 10 percent.

The challenges of negotiating with clubs under the Marinakis umbrella, including Forest, Olympiakos, and even Portugal's Rio Ave, are widely recognized. Yet, a resolution is now imminent, paving the way for the 22-year-old center-back to join Nottingham Forest before their pre-season friendly against Sporting on Friday. That match is scheduled for 7:45 PM at the Algarve Stadium.

Diomande's departure marks another significant sale from Alvalade, following in the footsteps of Hjulmand and Trincão, who were officially unveiled at Atlético Madrid and Al Ahli, respectively, also for fees in the region of €40 million.

It's worth noting that Diomande is under contract with Sporting until 2030 and has an €80 million release clause.
