The family of late Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has called on the police to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death, alleging that she suffered mistreatment in the home of her fiancé, a pastor, before she passed away on August 4, 2026.

The call for investigation came after a video of Osoba crying and alleging maltreatment by her fiancé's family circulated widely online following her death, prompting relatives and friends to demand answers.

Her fiancé subsequently granted an interview in which he denied wrongdoing and provided his own account of events, including the revelation that Osoba did not die in a hospital but at a police station.

He said she had informed him she was going to see someone before he received a call urging him to run. He said he refused because he had done nothing wrong.

Osoba's family alleged that the pastor, with whom she lived for approximately two years, took her money and her car, and impregnated her despite explicit medical warnings against pregnancy due to her breast cancer diagnosis.

The pastor acknowledged that he had impregnated her, but said her doctors had advised against pregnancy for five years following her cancer treatment. He said circumstances changed because she did not undergo chemotherapy, and that she later suffered a miscarriage.

On allegations that he used donated funds meant for her treatment to build his church, he said the church had been completed long before Osoba came into his life. He said the only contributions she made were purchasing a gold chain for him and one for herself, which they later sold and spent together.

In response to the crying video that has circulated since her death, the pastor alleged that Osoba was a drug addict, saying he discovered her dependency six months into their relationship despite his efforts to help her stop. He claimed the videos of her crying were recorded while she was under the influence of a substance locally referred to as "colos."

He said she came to him initially for prayers, stayed for three days, and later expressed romantic interest in him. He maintained that his family had no serious issues with her beyond one misunderstanding.

Osoba was diagnosed with breast cancer in late 2024, underwent surgery in November of that year after a public fundraising effort, and announced her recovery in August 2025. She turned 40 in December 2025, describing it as a miracle, before her death less than a year later.

The circumstances of her final hours, including why she was at a police station and what happened there, remain unclear. No official statement has been issued by the police at the time of writing.
