Taking you back to when Nigerian female Hip-Hop was the illest
There are only a few female emcees doing it big right now in the Nigerian music space.
As far as I can remember, only one of the pioneering female rappers Eva Alordiah has been relatively active in recent times. The 'new school' femcees such as the likes of Bella Alubo, Saeon and Phlow are taking over.
Many of these old time rap females came, thrilled us for a moment and disapppeared into thin air, breaking many a heart.
At the last music awards - Headies 2016 and Soundcity MVP Awards 2016, there was no representation of female rap in any of the related categories, showing the decline in the art.
Apparently, the natural demands of age and being a female is telling - motherhood and wifey duties, as well as the calling of other interests asides music.
Looking at these factors carefully and thoughtfully, particularly the marital factor, one might want to make a case for them.
Tha Suspekt's produced female version of ' featuring Sasha P, Muna, Blaise, Zee, Eva and Mocheddah could serve as a palliative to soothen our sore wounds of missing the killer wordplay, punchlines and jaw dropping delivery of these female emcees.
