Getafe battled back to claim a 1-1 home draw against Rayo Vallecano in Matchday 9 of La Liga, despite having to play for over an hour with ten men. The visitors drew first blood through Álvaro García (11'), and the hosts were dealt a major blow in the 28th minute when Djené Dakonam was shown a straight red card. Nevertheless, Getafe mounted a resilient response in the second half, with Martín Satriano (57') netting the equaliser to salvage a hard-earned point.

Rayo broke the deadlock in the 11th minute when Jorge de Frutos whipped in a cross from the right wing, allowing Álvaro García to guide the ball into the back of the net.

Getafe's task became significantly harder in the 28th minute. Djené Dakonam produced a reckless tackle from behind on the breaking García, leaving the referee with no choice but to brandish a straight red card.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, the home side found the net on the stroke of half-time through Kiko Femenía. The goal was promptly chalked off, however, after the ball was judged to have crossed the byline in the buildup.

Getafe's persistence paid off in the 57th minute as they drew level. Francho delivered an inviting cross from the left, and Martín Satriano rose to glance a header into the net to make it 1-1.
