Gianmarco Tamberi once again proved his knack for delivering a spectacular performance and strong results when it matters most. The 34-year-old Italian, who barely qualified for the European Championships final in Birmingham, secured his third consecutive and overall fourth outdoor continental high jump title. Tamberi clinched the gold medal with a clearance of 2.32 meters on his second attempt. The Italian triumphed on his daughter Camilla's first birthday.
Oleh Doroshchuk (Ukraine), the 2026 World Indoor Champion from Torun and a bronze medalist at the 2024 European Championships in Rome, added an outdoor continental silver to his collection, finishing the competition with 2.30m.
Italy's triumph in this final was further cemented by the 2025 U23 European Champion, Matteo Cioli, who battled for the bronze. He cleared 2.27m and, after one unsuccessful attempt at 2.30m, concluded his participation.
Tamberi thanked all the fans for their support during recent difficult times and asked the crowd to sing "Happy Birthday" to his daughter Camilla.
