Chiefs and Crusaders to meet in Fiji
A Super Rugby fixture will be played in Fiji for the first time when Chiefs face Crusaders on July 1, 2016.
The venue has been set as the ANZ Stadium in the Fijian capital of Suva, making the pacific island the eighth nation to host a fixture.
In October, it was announced that Tokyo-based Sunwolves would be the Japanese franchise for next season's expansion to 18 teams, with two of their home games to take place in Singapore.
Brendan Morris, interim chief executive officer of SANZAR (South Africa, New Zealand and Australia Rugby), is excited by the expanding reach of the competition.
"In 2016, Super Rugby is being delivered to more countries and more fans than ever before," he said in a statement.
"Not only will we see games played in Argentina, Japan and Singapore for the first time in history, but we are delighted to partner with the Fijian Government, the Chiefs and event promoter Fortress to deliver the first ever match to the Pacific Islands.
"We thank everyone that has worked hard behind the scenes to deliver this history-making clash and we look forward to what will be an incredible occasion in Suva next July."
