Super League: Huddersfield Giants won in successive matches for the first time this season with Jermaine McGillvary inspiring them past Hull FC.

Jermaine McGillvary touched down his 150th career try as Huddersfield Giants earned an unlikely 22-12 victory over Super League leaders Hull FC.

McGillvary crossed twice in the second half as Huddersfield secured back-to-back Super League wins for the first time this season.

Michael Lawrence latched onto a grubber kick to put the Giants ahead, before some brilliant defending and a Jamie Ellis kick sent them into half-time with an 8-0 lead.

Tom Symonds scored his first try for Huddersfield since arriving from Manly Sea Eagles this month and McGillvary extended their lead moments later, though replays suggested he gathered the ball from a knock-on.

McGillvary then added his landmark score by charging over on the right wing, and Mahe Fonua's score off a penalty tap was mere consolation.

Hull could now see their lead at the summit vanish should Wigan Warriors win away at Catalans Dragons on Saturday, while the Giants have moved up to ninth and just are temporarily four points adrift of a place in the Super 8s.
