Since their successful 2016 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations campaign, the Super Falcons have been in a sit-in protest in Abuja.
They took to the streets on Wednesday, December 14 and marched to the National Assembly complex to meet President Buhari who was to present the 2017 budget that day.

The President sent his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari to speak the players where they were promised to be paid in two days.
After second thought, President Buhari has ordered that the girls be paid on Thursday, December 12.
The President is said to be embarrassed by the attention the protest has brought and has directed the Sports Ministry to pay the girls immediately.
A top Super Falcons source told that the players have been informed that they will be paid on Thursday.
Nigeria’s senior Women’s National team on Saturday, December 3 beat Cameroon to win the 2016 AWCON.
The players have even seized the AWCON trophy from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) until they are paid their salaries and allowances.
