The
Nigeria’s senior Women’s National team on Saturday, December 3 beat Cameroon to win the 2016 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.
Since they arrived Nigeria the following day, the players and coaches have been protesting the non-payment of their allowances and salaries.
They have been in a sit-in protest at Agura Hotel Abuja since Monday, December 5.
The players have even seized the AWCON trophy from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) until they are paid their salaries and allowances.
On Wednesday morning, the players marched to the National Assembly Complex where President Muhammadu Buhari is scheduled to present the 2017 budget.
The players also feel that they have been ignored by the presidency since they arrived Abuja.
They arrived the capital city with the hopes that the Buhari would at least host them to a grand reception.
That week, however, Buhari jetted out to Senegal for the 2016 Dakar Forum while the Super Falcons were protesting in Abuja.
Sources from the Super Falcons, however, stated that they have received words that the president will host them in January 2017 but no specific data has been chosen.

Cameroon President Biya and his wife, Chantel hosted the AWCON vice-champions to a reception on Thursday, 08 December.
