The Super Falcons have been without a coach since the expiration of Florence Omagbemi’s contract with the NFF.
It has been wildly reported that the NFF have appointed American coach, Randy Waldrum to replace Omagbemi.
Although Pinnick did not mention his name, the NFF president at an event in Lagos on Monday, November 27 confirmed that a foreign coach will be appointed for the Super Falcons.
The Super Falcons have not been together for almost a year since they won the 2016 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) in November 2016.
Super Falcons players have come out to criticise the NFF for their lack of support and snub for Nigeria’s senior national women’s team.
In response to this criticism, NFF boss promise that the Super Falcons will get the same attention and benefits as the Super Eagles.
“For the Super Falcons, the NFF are doing the best to appoint a new foreign coach,” Pinnick said at an event in Lagos to announce a new partnership.
“We want to assure the Super Falcons players that they have not been neglected, from now on they will get the same attention and benefits as their male counterparts.”
Super Falcons stars cry out over neglect
Super Falcons stars called out the NFF for their failure to bring the team together for almost a year.
The three players were part of the team that won Super Falcons’ eighth AWCON title since the maiden edition of the competition in 1998.
The Super Falcons and NFF are not on best term following a series of protests the players carried out over unpaid allowancesand bonuses from the 2016 AWCON.
After a sit-in protest at an Abuja hotel, the girls took to the streets and marched to the National Assembly complex to get the attention of President Muhammadu Buhari.
It was after these actions that their allowances and bonuses from the 2016 AWCON were paid to them.
New Super Falcons boss
The expected new Super Falcons Waldrum has been coaching since 1982 when he managed the men’s football team of Austin College.
From there he coached both the men’s and women’s soccer teams at the University of Tulsa.
He was also manager of Houston Dash in the National Women’s Soccer League and the women’s national team of Trinidad and Tobago.
