In this new position, the Super Eagles of Nigeria are now the ninth country in Africa, a drop from the eighth position they occupied in the November ranking.

Senegal (23, Tunisia (27), Egypt (31), Congo DR (39), Morocco (40), Burkina Faso (44), Cameroon (45), Ghana (50) are all above Nigeria (51). Algeria make up the top 10 African countries on the ranking.

The Super Eagles continue to drop despite some impressive performance in recent months but findings have revealed that this slide is as a result of the way the FIFA Ranking is calculated.
