The Spanish national team has set a new record for the longest unbeaten streak, surpassing Italy's previous achievement. The squad, led by Luis de la Fuente, triumphed in the 2026 World Cup final against Argentina with a 1-0 victory after extra time.
Spain hasn't tasted defeat in a competitive match since March 2023, when they lost 0-2 to Scotland in the Euro 2024 qualifiers. Since then, "La Furia Roja" has amassed an impressive run of 38 consecutive matches without a loss, recording 29 wins and 9 draws.
This streak is the longest in history for both European and South American national teams.
The previous record was held by Italy under Roberto Mancini. Between September 2018 and October 2021, the "Azzurri" registered 37 matches without a defeat.
