Organisers of the event say it started with about 5,000 people in 1999, but this year’s attendance hit an all time high of 30,000 people.

The annual Sikh parade which held in Edmonton, Canada attracted many faithfuls from all facets of life.

The parade is in commemoration of the birth of the Sikh religion.
The highlight of the parade was the glass float carrying a replica of the Guru Granth Sahib’s Sikh religious text.
The float was accompanied by a special set of initiated Sikhs called the Panj Pyare, also known as the five beloved ones.
Various other floats from different schools and cultural groups who came with their singers and dancers were on hand to entertain the guests and tourists.

In line with the Sikh tradition of benevolence, there was a lot of free food and drink for everyone, strategically located at every hundred metres.
