Afrobeats star Shoday will feature in Funke Akindele's new movie 'The Four'

After dazzling fans with his hit-making prowess, Afrobeats star Shoday will be taking his talents to Nollywood as he's set to appear in Funke Akindele's upcoming movie, 'The Four: No One Fights Alone'.

The singer will be starring in the movie alongside an ensemble cast that includes veteran stars and some of the actors shaping the movie industry.

The movie stars Funke Akindele, Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), Timini Egbuson, Lateef Adedimeji, Ali Nuhu, Uzor Arukwe, Ronke Oshodi Oke, Antar Laniyan, and Wunmi Toriola.

Shoday is not the only musician in the movie, which also features award-winning vocalist Waje. The movie, which is scheduled for release on December 11 2026, continues Funke Akindele's trend of huge box office December releases.

Shoday and Waje's appearance in the movie continues the interaction between the music and movie industry, with a history of musicians appearing in Nollywood films and actors also making music. It also continues Funke Akindele's trend of casting musicians in her movies. In 2019, award-winning rapper and actor Falz featured in her movie 'Your Excellency' and also in the 2024 movie 'Everybody Loves Jenifa'.

Akindele's interaction with the music industry also extends to music videos, where she has appeared on several visuals, including in Wizkid's hit record 'Pakurumo' and more recently in FOLA's hit song 'EKO'.

With her upcoming movie, Akindele, who holds the record for the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time, will be aiming to continue her record-breaking trend. The filmmaker has produced a string of record-breaking theatrical releases, including Omo Ghetto: The Saga, Battle on Buka Street, A Tribe Called Judah, Everybody Loves Jenifa and Behind The Scenes.
