Nigerian defender Semi Ajayi scores the winner for West Brom in a Championship game
Nigerian defender Semi Ajayi netted the winner for West Brom in their 1-0 away win at Peterborough in the Championship on Saturday, August 28, 2021.
In this first start of the season, Ajayi played at the right-side of a three-man defence and helped The Baggies to keep a clean sheet.
It didn't end there for the 27-year-old who ensured his side got all the three points with a goal.
Ajayi has always known how to score goals; in the 2019/2020 season, he netted five in the Championship and two in the Premier League just this previous season.
On Saturday, he got into good positions during set peices and had an effort hit the outside of the post in the second half.
With the goal heading to a goalless draw, Ajayi scored the winner, courtesy of his fine positioning again.
He didn't rush back when Peterborough first dealt with a ball in their box during a set piece situation.
West Brom quickly worked the ball to the right for a cross into the box. Ajayi, who remained in a fine position, netted into a empty net for West Brom's winner.
