Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel was left baffled by the decision to disallow West Ham's late equalizer against Arsenal yesterday. In stoppage time, the "Hammers" thought they had leveled the score, but the goal was chalked off for a foul on goalkeeper David Raya.
"This decision is wrong on so many levels. What infuriates me is that Arsenal would never be at the top if this was considered a foul. They've scored so many goals this way – blocking players, holding, doing similar things," Schmeichel stated after the match.
"And to reach this point, the VAR decision took five minutes. He starts watching replay after replay. That alone casts so much doubt on the decision. This cannot be a foul, it just can't. I can't understand how suddenly this is a foul, because it hasn't been for other teams throughout the season," he added.
