The NBA finalist San Antonio Spurs have secured forward Julian Champagnie for an additional three years. The 25-year-old American's new contract is reportedly worth $45 million over the next three seasons. With this move, the Spurs retain a key player from the squad that reached the finals last season.

Champagnie began his NBA career with a two-way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2022, after going undrafted that same year. After playing just two games for the Sixers, he was waived and subsequently signed with San Antonio, completing his 2022/23 rookie season with the Texans. In the 2023/24 season, he became a starter for the Spurs, and in the following two campaigns, he played in every regular-season game.

His streak of 185 consecutive regular-season games is the second-longest active streak in the league, trailing only Mikal Bridges of the New York Knicks, who boasts 638.

During the Spurs' run to the NBA Finals in the 2025/26 season, Champagnie averaged 11.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assists. He set a club record for most three-pointers in a single season with 195, and also for the most threes made in a single game – 11 against the New York Knicks on December 31st, as part of a career-high performance. This made him the first player in NBA history to score at least 36 points without attempting a single shot from close range.

The New York-born basketball player was a vital component of the team that lifted the Western Conference trophy this year, shooting nearly 40 percent from beyond the arc in 23 playoff games.

Julian's twin brother, Justin Champagnie, also plays in the NBA for the Washington Wizards.
