Several fighters from the recent UFC Sacramento event could face extended periods away from the Octagon. Gregory Rodrigues and Anthony Hernandez engaged in a true war in the night's main event, and both are now bearing the scars.
On Monday, the California State Athletic Commission released the medical suspensions following the event, with both main event combatants potentially facing six-month layoffs due to alarmingly similar injuries.
Rodrigues, who secured a unanimous decision victory, is facing a six-month suspension for a "possible fracture of the right foot." He will require medical clearance to return to action sooner.
As for Hernandez, he faces a similar six-month sanction unless he receives medical clearance for a "possible fracture of the left knee." During the fight, Hernandez absorbed numerous heavy leg kicks from Rodrigues, which dropped him to the canvas on several occasions.
He now faces a potentially lengthy recovery due to the damage sustained.
