The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has come up with a solution to Road Traffic Crashes (RTC).
According to Mr
Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), he said the unit has been mandated to reduce RTCs on the highways.
The sector commander said their goal was to reduce, prevent and stop accidents.
Despite the establishment of this new unit, Udoma urges members of the public to avoid accidents by obeying all traffic rules.
“It is a known fact that the recent crashes witnessed on Kaduna-Abuja expressway were obviously as a result of over-speeding and tyre busts.
This could have been averted if the drivers were moving at the recommended speed limit of 100 km/hour for cars and 90 km/hour for buses on expressway.
Therefore, the public are enjoined to observe and maintain the recommended speed limit for various vehicles", he said.
Udoma made this public appeal at a recent road safety rally.
This rally was part of the 2016 West Africa Road Safety Organization (WARSO), themed "If we don’t Kill Over-speed, Over-Speed Will Kill Us."
