Team Nigeria day 9 review (Sunday, August 14)

Nigeria’s sole weightlifter at Rio, Maryam Usman was knocked out after she finished ninth in the women’s +75kg category.

Maryam lifted a cumulative total of 263kg in the event as she struggled with injury.

On track, Nigeria was also unsuccessful as Margaret Bamgbose and Patience Okon George exited in the semi-finals of the women's 400m.

Bamgbose finished 7th in heat 1 with a time of 51.92s and Okon George 2nd in heat 3 in a time of 52.52s
