The Athletics events kicked off which saw Nwanneka Okwelogu unable to progress past the qualification stage after finishing an overall 29th.

He initially placed placed 14th in Group A of the women’s Shot Put event.

In Heptathlon, Uhunoma Naomi-Pauline Osazuwa is currently in 24th position, after accumulating 3609 points.

Blessing Okagbare made it to the 100m women’s semifinals after finishing 2nd in her heat in a time of 11.16s.

Nigerian rower, Chierika Ukogu made it to the final of the Women’s Single Sculls Rowing event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

She initially finished third with a 4:04.26 but finished fourth at the end with a total time of 8:18:55 which qualified her for the finals.

In table tennis, Nigerian players, Segun Toriola, Aruna Quadri and Bode Abiodun were on Friday, August 12, beaten by their Chinese counterparts in the first round of Men’s Table Tennis event of Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
